I found this report in the Derbyshire Times from 13 February 1926 interesting. I was surprised that so close after the end of WW1 people were not overly respectful of the memorial, but the actions of the passing funeral procession showed that many people remembered the men who gave their lives in WW1.

Thankfully, some people do still have respect and reverence for fallen warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice freedom for the freedom of their homeland.
