John was 27 years old and left a wife and three young children.

I have just finished researching Ernest’s story and it can be read here.

Ernest was 22 years old when he died and is commemorated on Old Whittington and the Brushes War Memorial.

John was born in Tipton but moved to Whittington in 1912 and lived at Newbridge Street Old Whittington.

His family came from Prospect Road Old Whittington and as yet I haven’t found a photo of Fred to put on the website.

Its always good when the CGWC manage to find names for the men still being found on the battlefields in France from WW1, and WW2 for that matter. They have just issued a list of reburials for April. One of the men is a Sherwood Forester who unfortunately they haven’t been able to identify, but at least he is getting the military burial and recognition he deserves.
