We remember two men from Whittington who died 100 years ago today on 18th September 1918.
George Straw buried in Villers Hill British Cemetery was 24 years old.
Frederick Walker buried in Templeux le Guerard British cemetery was 21 years old.

Just posted my research into Clarence’s life. Managed to find a very grainy photograph in the Derbyshire Courier.
I have also posted a photo of Herbert Widdowson, hopefully can start researching Herbert’s life shortly.

A descendant of Herbert’s who has compiled a family history (Gordon Richards) has contacted me and has kindly shared his family knowledge of Herbert and I have updated the webpage https://oldwhittingtonops.com/gaunt-herbert/
He also sent me a newspaper cutting with a photograph. The photo is on https://oldwhittingtonops.com/photos-of-the-men/
