I have just finished researching the life of John Carlile and his story together with his brother Percy and cousin Alexander who all died in WW1, can be read on the website.

Percy and his brother John were both killed in WW1
along with their cousin Alexander (Alec).

Another ordinary man called on to do his duty, which he did with the utmost bravery, like so many others.

If any descendants of Alec or his cousins Percy and John who I will be researching next have any information, family stories or photos they would like to add then please get in touch.

Ernest Whitbread proved a bit of a challenge as none of his information seemed to cross reference, however with help from Gloria Evison in the form of a newspaper article and family information the story finally came to life.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,
